Republican Andy Barr will be facing Democrat Charles Booker in the November race for U.S. Senate.

Long-time incumbent Mitch McConnell did not seek reelection, making the open seat a competitive race with 12 Republican candidates and seven Democratic candidates. Barr will face the winner of the Democratic primary in November’s general election.

President Donald Trump gave his “Complete and Total Endorsement” of U.S. Rep. Andy Barr in a post on Truth Social on May 1. Following the news of the endorsement, Lexington businessman Nate Morris dropped out of the race (though he still appeared on the ballot) and also endorsed Barr.

The other Republicans in the race were Anissa Catlett, James Duncan, Michael Faris, Valerie Fredrick, Jonathan Holliday, Jimmy Leon, A. Nick Shelley, George Washington and Donald Wenzel.
The Democratic primary was essentially a rematch from the 2020 primary between former Marine fighter pilot Amy McGrath and former state Rep. Charles Booker. McGrath won in 2020 against Booker but lost to McConnell in the general election.
The other Democrats in the race were Joshua Blanton Sr., Logan Forsythe, Dale Lewis Romans, Pamela Stevenson, and Vincent Anthony Thompson.
