The Waterfront restaurant broke loose from its riverfront location in Covington and hit the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge late Thursday morning.
Covington Police and Fire are on the scene.Â
The Clay Wade Bailey Bridge was closed for a couple hours but reopened around 2 p.m.
The Waterfront, a Jeff Ruby restaurant, famously broke loose in the spring of 2011 with patrons on board and has been closed ever since.
Jeff Ruby is on the scene and sent out this tweet: “Waterfront breaks loose AGAIN I’m in such a hurry I have a FREKIN (sic) car accident a block from Waterfront. How’s ur (sic) day goin?”
In April 2013, Ruby and the City of Covington announced a deal that was expected to reopen the restaurant at a new location, at Covington Landing on the river at the northern end of Madison Avenue.
It was announced in the fall that the planned opening would be delayed until the spring of 2014.
The River City News is on the scene and will update this story when more details emerge.
