Congratulations to Rick Robinson, the Ludlow native and Ft. Mitchell resident whose latest book has been honored again. Writ of Mandamus is partially set in Covington with some critical scenes taking place at Chez Nora and other recognizable locations. The book was one of five finalists in the Fiction: Multicultural category for the 2012 USA Best Book Awards.
Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of USA Book News, said this year’s contest yielded over 1500 entries from mainstream and independent publishers, which were then narrowed down to over 400 winners and finalists.
“The 2012 results represent a phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the United States,” Keen said in a news release. “With a full publicity and marketing campaign promoting the results of the USA Best Book Awards, this year’s winners and finalists will gain additional media coverage for the upcoming holiday retail season.”
Robinson’s most recent release has also been honored as the Grand Prize Winner at the London International Book Fetsival, Best Mystery/Thriller at the Indie Book Awards, and as a finalist in the Mystery/Suspense category at the International Book Awards.
Here is how the book is described:
The fourth in Robinson’s captivating Congressman Richard Thompson series winds its way back-and-forth across the Atlantic Ocean between Ireland and the United States. Robinson uses his “inside the Beltway” knowledge of government and politics to weave a fast paced story where sips of Guiness beer and sales of Kentucky horses interplay with Middle Eastern conflict.
Often a suspense series will run out of steam after a few books. This is not the case with Rick Robinson’s latest thriller, Writ of Mandamus. With this book Robinson hits his full stride as he takes story threads and characters from his previous award winning novels to weave a compelling tapestry of political intrigue told with the authority of a true Washington Insider. In the grand style of Clancy and Follett, if you’re a fan of this genre, this is a must read.—Rod Pennington, best selling author of The Fourth Awakening
