LINK nky’s Educator of the Week nominees

At LINK nky, we believe that educators – whether they are teachers or principals, tutors or superintendents – are at the heart of our community’s success. The Educator of the Week contest is our way of recognizing and celebrating the incredible educators who go above and beyond for Northern Kentucky students every day.

Each week, we will choose three nominees who have made an impact on their community and who represent a diverse mix of roles, grade levels, subject areas, school types and geographic locations.

The Educators

Katie Heister

Educator: Katie Heister

Role: Teacher at St. Mary School

Nominator: Mollie Gavin

Why Gavin nominated Heister:

Katie is a fantastic teacher. She’s taught 3rd grade for 20 years and has always put her students first. Katie goes above and beyond for her students inside and outside the classroom. She’s worked at St Mary for 20 years and has made a positive impact on the community.

Amy Eads

Educator: Amy Eads

Role: Teacher at Campbell County Middle School

Nominator: Zach Neal

Why Neal nominated Eads:

Ms. Eads is incredibly deserving of this award. She has a massive heart for her students and will do whatever she can to help her colleagues. She’s an expert in her content and all who enter her room feel safe and welcome.

Ms. Eads goes above and beyond when it comes to instruction. She makes science fun and she shows up ready each day to give 150%. She is someone I am so fortunate to work with, and someone I would have wanted to have when I was in middle school.

Educator: Austin Hall

Austin Hall (center)

Role: Teacher at Turkey Foot Middle School

Nominators: Cole Lloyd, Lucy Toebee, Payton Lewis, Eleanor Severson

Why Severson (one of Hall’s nominators) nominated Hall :

I would like to nominate my teacher because of his dedication to his students. It’s amazing how he manages to grab their attention in lessons, whether it be by taking moments to make sure we’re awake and listening in-between lessons, or managing to include his students in his examples.

Not only that, Hall has shown how he is willing to accept questions. Even if a student asks something he doesn’t know, he still allows the question and learns with us to embrace our natural curiosity as students.

See why Hall’s other nominators put him up for Educator of the Week

Lucy Toebbe: I would like to nominate Mr. Hall for this award because he is always available for his students no matter what they need. He is always ready to help us in whatever way he can, whether it is academically or personally. He always takes his time to listen and give advice that really helps us. He is a very kind and patient person, and he always inspires us to give our best in whatever we do. We love you Mr. Hall!!

Payton Lewis: I am nominating Mr. Hall cause he is an amazing teacher. Every time I’m confused, he is always there to help and breaks it down to understand. He is also super funny and always cheers anyone up when they’re sad. I mean anyone. Overall he is such an amazing teacher and I feel like he is helping me become a better person. And his energy wants me to actually learn something. I think he deserves this nomination as an award for his bomb teaching.

Cole Lloyd: Mr. Hall is a great social studies teacher and he makes his classroom fun with all the ducks. He’s always there if you need him or if something is happening personally. Before being in his class, I didn’t like social studies but his class is my favorite and I love spending my first period in his class.
