From Covington Independent Public Schools:

“Writing always starts as a question,” author Gary D. Schmidt told Holmes Middle School students, “Write what you want to know.”

Mr. Schmidt is an award winning author of juvenile and young adult fiction. While at Holmes Middle School he will join the After School Book Club to discuss his book, “Okay for Now,” a Newberry Honor recipient. Students in the Book Club have read the book in preparation for their special guest’s visit.

Other books written by Gary D. Schmidt include Newberry Award winner, “Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy,” and “Wednesday Wars.” He teaches writing in the English Department of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and in the MFA Writing for Children program at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

His visit was sponsored by the Kenton County Public Library.
