Conner 52, Scott 21
Grayson Montgomery threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns, Cordion Abernathy ran for 121 and two more and the Cougars secured the No. 3 seed in the Class 5A, 5th District.
The win sets up Conner (3-6) with a road date at Scott County to open up the postseason. They close out the regular season at Henry Clay next week.
Montgomery’s touchdown tosses went to Jasiah Lampkin and Shepherd Dozier while Montgomery also ran for two touchdowns. Lampkin finished with 102 yards receiving.
Eliminated from postseason play in the loss, Scott (2-7) closes out their season at Holmes next week.
Cooper 49, Boone County 3

For the first time in school history, Cooper has won consecutive regular season district championships and in the process continue to build momentum towards the playoffs.
Needing just four plays, the Jags raced out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and cruised to a 49-3 victory over Boone County. Ryker Campbell scored on a 10-yard reverse and followed it up with a 70-yard touchdown reception from Cam O’Hara. Keagan Maher then split the Rebel defense for a 68-yard touchdown scamper to cap the first quarter offensive deluge.
Maher would finish the night with eight carries for 148 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Cam O’Hara pitched a perfect game through two-plus quarters, going 10-for-10 for 167 yards and a touchdown. Ryker Campbell had three catches for 85 yards with one receiving and one rushing touchdown, while Drew Hartman hauled in four catches for 60 yards.
The Rebels Malik Johnson grinded out 67 yards on 20 carries to lead the Rebels.
Cooper (6-3) will finish out the regular season with a trip to Simon Kenton next week, and then host South Oldham in two weeks in the first round of the playoffs. Boone County (4-5) will close its regular season at Lloyd next week, then on the road to Woodford County, for the first week of the 5A playoffs.
Newport 52, Dayton 14
The Wildcats ran for 263 yards and four touchdowns in the victory, securing the No. 2 seed in the district and a home playoff game.
Kendall Buck-Barber did a lot of the damage in the ground attack, tallying 144 yards and a touchdown. Zaequan Sharp added two rushing touchdowns, Sean Hurry with the other.
Newport (5-4) returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the contest, Dallas Herrington and Kayveion Sharp with pick 6’s. Zaequan Sharp also added a kickoff return for a touchdown. The win gets them the No. 2 seed in the district and will host Ludlow in the first round of the postseason. They finish the regular season with Harrison County on the road.
Dayton (2-7) lost their fifth straight and will open the postseason at Holy Cross. Prior to that, they close out their regular season at home against Trimble County.
Campbell County 39, Great Crossing 35
Trevor Bertram ran for 225 yards and three touchdowns as the Camels came back from a 35-26 fourth quarter deficit.
Campbell County (3-6) trailed by as much as 15 in the second half as they earned the No. 3 seed in the district. They’ll travel to Ballard in the first round of the playoffs. They close out the regular season with an away game at Beechwood.
Holy Cross 43, Ludlow 6
The Indians moved to 9-0 and claimed a district championship in the process.
They got the game to a running clock before halftime, taking a 36-0 lead into the break. Brian Ferguson ran for two touchdowns and threw one while Charles Oglesby ran in two scores for the first half damage. Ferguson’s touchdown pass went to Braylon Thornberry, Ferguson adding another rushing touchdown in the second half.
They’ll get Dayton in the opening round of the playoffs as they’re guaranteed at least two home playoff games. They’ll look to claim an undefeated regular season with a road game at Bellevue in the regular season finale.
Ludlow (3-6) is the three seed in the district and will play at Newport to open up their postseason. They close out the regular season next week at St. Henry.
Lloyd Memorial 42, Carroll County 6
The Juggernauts claimed a district title and moved to 9-0 on the season.
Kaleb Evans went 6-of-9 passing for 120 yards and three touchdowns while 12 different Juggernauts had a rushing attempt in the contest. Evans touchdown tosses went to Colten Barger, Alijah Griffin and Isaiah Jones. Lincoln Tomlinson had two rushing touchdowns, Avery Conrad with one.
Lloyd looks to make it a perfect 10-0 regular season with a home game against Boone County next week. They get Bath County the following week to open up the playoffs with at least two home playoff games and possibly more.
Covington Catholic 52, Mason County 0
The Colonels led 42-0 at halftime as they secured the No. 2 seed in the district and a home playoff game.
For the second consecutive game, Covington Catholic (7-3) returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and never looked back. Dylan Gaiser ran for three touchdowns, Cash Harney throwing for two in the onslaught. Gaiser’s touchdown runs were from 46, 48 and 47 yards out. Harney’s touchdown passes went to Logan Sanning for 60 yards and Zach Brooks for 14 yards.
Logan Zembrodt kicked a 30-yard field goal and William Timmerding closed out the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run.
CovCath has the final week of the season off before they host Boyd County in the first round of the playoffs.
