The Crimson Rams (4-1) rolled behind junior Jeremy Presley’s 277 rushing yards and three touchdowns while quarterback Kaden Mack rushed for 84 yards and threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns. Cooper led 17-14 in the second, but Manual responded with three touchdowns before halftime for a 35-17 advantage.
Manual finished with 655 total yards, 423 in the ground attack. Cam O’Hara finished with 269 yards passing and three touchdowns for the Jaguars, Ryker Campbell his top target with 164 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cooper (2-3) will look to regroup from a rugged non-district schedule and open district play by hosting Conner next Friday.
Nicholas County 30, Bishop Brossart 7
The Mustangs got 184 yards passing and a touchdown from Landon Spaulding, but ran for just nine yards on 16 attempts in a second straight loss to drop to 2-3.
Landon Ruth was the top receiver with three catches for 99 yards and a touchdown. Matthew Riegler had 19 tackles, Quinten Tischner with 16.
The Mustangs play at DeSales next week.
Newport 24, Paris 21
Kayveion Sharp threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns, Kendall Buck-Barber ran for 94 yards and a touchdown and the Wildcats defense forced three turnovers in the victory.
DeMarco Jackson recorded 99 receiving yards and a touchdown, Carvonta Roper and Sharp added interceptions. Amari Isham and Roper were the leading tacklers with seven tackles apiece, Isham also recovering a fumble.
Newport improved to 3-2 with the victory with a matchup at Sayre next week.
Ludlow 29, Gallatin County 26
The Panthers last three games have been decided by a total of 11 points, losing the first two before pulling out a tight one at James Rigney Stadium Friday.
Ludlow led 7-0 after one and 14-12 at the half before Gallatin County took a 18-14 advantage. Ludlow made it 29-26 with 10:51 left in the fourth, which proved to be the final.
The Panthers improve to 2-3 with a game at Bellevue next week.
Raceland 56, Newport Central Catholic 27
Tied at 14-all with 7:18 left in the first half, the Rams erupted for 21 points by halftime for a 35-14 advantage. NewCath (1-4) was unable to get closer than 20 from that point.
Emmanuel Miles threw for 218 yards and a touchdown, Eddie Bivens running for 107 yards and two scores. Bivens added 88 yards receiving and a touchdown through the air.
The Thoroughbreds get a week off before playing at Campbell County on Oct. 3.
Harrison County 28, Walton-Verona 7
The Bearcats led 7-0 at halftime before the Thorobreds erupted for four touchdowns in the second half.
The loss drops Walton-Verona to 1-3. They play at Bracken County next week.
Bourbon County 55, Scott 22
In a 14-14 tie, the Colonels rattled off 41 unanswered to improve to 5-0.
Mason County 21, Boone County 13
Boone County led 13-8 in the first half, but were unable to add any points from that point.
