Five games into the season, Lloyd Memorial continues to look like more than just a good football team, the Juggernauts look like a great one.
That was evident Friday night in Claryville, where they overpowered 6A Campbell County 49-24 to stay unbeaten.
The formula was simple: athleticism and balance.
Lloyd churned out 227 rushing yards and piled up seven touchdowns on the ground, leaning on its offensive line to control the game. In the first half, Avery Conrad set the tone, slicing through the Camels’ defense for three scores. After halftime, Lincoln Tomlinson took the baton, adding three more touchdowns of his own to put the game away. Quarterback Kaleb Evans added the other score, rounding out a dominant night for the backfield.
“We’re pretty athletic, so we tried to get the ball in the athletes’ hands,” Lloyd head coach Kyle Niederman said. “Our offensive line did a really good job, and of course, I’d argue we have the best quarterback in Northern Kentucky, so he’s going to draw attention too.”
The Juggernauts didn’t rely on just one player or one half. Conrad’s early bursts gave the team a lead, while Tomlinson’s second-half surge broke the game open. Evans and the rest of the backfield kept defenses guessing, combining speed, power, and vision to wear down the Camels.
“Definitely the offensive line,” Tomlinson said. “Big credit to them. They did great blocking and I give them credit for everything we did.”
Defensively, Lloyd Memorial was just as dominant. Quickness at the edges and well-timed pressure forced Campbell County into mistakes, preventing them from mounting any serious threat. The Camels did strike first with an 86-yard touchdown pass from Lucas Anthrop to Cade Anthrop and added a 32-yard field goal from Blake Minor in the first half to make it 14-10.

Lloyd rattled off 21 straight to make it 35-10. The Camels final two touchdowns, both in the second half, came too late to shift momentum. Lloyd forced two interceptions and limited Campbell County to 122 passing yards and 141 rushing yards, effectively neutralizing the Camels’ balanced attack.
“We kind of started off rough,” Campbell County head coach Brian Weinrich said. “We got a three-and-out, and then defensively we missed a couple things and suddenly we’re playing from behind. We saw on film how good they were, and it was very frustrating because we didn’t play anything like we practiced. I thought we had a great week.”
The Juggernauts never trailed and led by as much as 32. The 5-0 start has come with an average margin of victory of 25 points a contest.

“All the work pays off,” Conrad said. “We always work, practice or weight room. There’s no playing around. When it’s time to work we get to work.”
Lloyd Memorial enters district play next week, making the drive further east on US-27 to Pendleton County at 7:30 p.m.
Campbell County falls to 2-3, losing three straight following a 2-0 start. The Camels will have a bye week before returning to action against Newport Central Catholic on October 3.
