The Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team saw some key players return from injuries, but could not pull off a win in their return.

Kennedy Igo and one of last year’s returning starters Kailee Davis made their returns in NKU’s 77-59 loss at Tennessee Tech on Monday. Igo started and scored seven points, making one 3-pointer in 29 minutes of action and Davis came off the bench to score four in 17 minutes.

Northern Kentucky struggled handling the ball with 23 turnovers and the host Golden Eagles had 17. Tennessee Tech outscored Northern Kentucky, 17-7 in points off turnovers.

Tennessee Tech (4-6) also won the rebounding battle, 37-29. Maaliya Owens lit up the Norse for 28 points. Teammates Anna Walker and Reghan Grimes scored 11 points each and Walker had eight rebounds.

Khamari Mitchell-Steen led the Norse (2-7) with 23 points and freshman center Carter McCray recorded another double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kalissa Lacy scored eight off the bench.

Northern Kentucky concludes the Tennessee tour at Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
