With the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star basketball game on deck, some of the top juniors across the state are helping the Kentucky senior led team prep for the two-day showdown this weekend.

The Kentucky Junior vs Senior All-Star game was held on Saturday at Eastern High School in Louisville. The girls game took place first with the boys game following.

Cooper grad and Illinois-Chicago signee Andy Johnson led the senior team in scoring with 23 points in their 121-112 victory. Johnson hit 9-of-17 from the field, 3-of-8 from three and pulled down eight rebounds to go with four assists. Walton-Verona grad and Evansville signee Aaron Gutman wasn’t far behind Johnson with a 19-point, eight rebound effort. Great Crossing standout and 2025 Mr. Basketball Malachi Moreno did not play in the game.

The Kentucky girls seniors took down the juniors, 111-80. Newport Central Catholic grad and NKU signee Caroline Eaglin is the lone NKY senior on the girls team and did not play in the game. Plenty of NKY juniors represented the Kentucky team in Ryle’s Jaelyn Jones, Cooper’s Addyson Brissey, Notre Dame’s Emma Holtzapfel, Simon Kenton’s Haylie Webb and Campbell County’s Isabella Jayasuriya.

Brissey led the Northern Kentucky contingent with 12 points and four rebounds, one off from a team-high, hitting all four of her 3-point attempts in the contest. Jones finished with eight points, four rebounds and two steals while Webb added four points and four rebounds, Holtzapfel with with three points and a rebound and Jayasuriya adding a rebound, assist and a steal. All five will be key players looking ahead to the 2025-26 season.

The Kentucky-Indiana All-Star series is a two-day event that begins on June 6 at Lexington Catholic High School and June 7 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The boys teams split last year’s series, and Indiana swept the girls series. All time, Indiana’s boys lead 104-46 and Indiana’s girls lead 55-41.

The KY/IN All Star Game was established in 1940 and is the longest running All-Star series of its kind.
