The LINK nky Team of the Week for Sep. 29-Oct 5 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Bishop Brossart football team.
In a tight race, the Mustangs edged out the Bellevue girls soccer team by a slim margin of just 1,300 votes. Brossart secured victory with 12,800 votes, while the Tigers finished strong with 11,500 votes.
A bonus for the Bishop Brossart football team is that they are now eligible for Team of the Season (TOS) for the fall. There will also be a winter and spring winner. Each TOS winner will receive a $500 scholarship that will go to an athlete of their choice and they will then be considered for Team of the Year (TOY). Voting will take place for that after each season.
For the team that is awarded TOY, online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year. The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.
BISHOP BROSSART FOOTBALL

Under the leadership of new head coach Adam Kozerski, the Mustangs are off to an impressive start.
With a 5-1 record to begin the season, it’s their best opening since 2021.
Bishop Brossart won in dramatic fashion against Paris (21-14) on Oct. 4. Brady Boruske recovered a fumble late and then Tyler Holtz hit Nicholas Cozzi for a 25-yard touchdown pass to break the 14-14 tie.
Shane Willike then sealed the deal with an interception avenging a 41-3 defeat at the hands of the Greyhounds last season.
Holtz has thrown for 14 touchdowns (fifth most in Class 1A), Cameron Mandel the leading rusher with 527 yards rushing and six touchdowns. How about Mandel’s stat line against the Greyhounds? Defensively he had 17 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks. Offensively he ran for 110 yards and a touchdown and also caught a pass for 12 yards.
Isaac Amin leads the receiving corps with 404 yards receiving and four touchdowns, Cozzi hauling in five touchdown grabs.
Willike leads the defense with 39 tackles, Keegan Gulley highlighting the secondary with four interceptions, the second most in Class 1A.
Coach Kozerski and the Mustangs are playing well as they head into district play in a matchup with Holy Cross on Friday at Thomas More at 7 p.m.
Congratulations to our other nominees as well:Â Bellevue girls soccer, Conner boys soccer, Notre Dame volleyball, and St. Henry boys golf
