Republican Andy Barr was elected U.S. senator in Kentucky on Nov. 3, to replace longtime Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, who did not seek reelection.
Barr won the race, defeating Democrat Charles Booker, Kentucky Party candidate Christopher Campbell and write-in candidate Thomas Michael Murphy. Barr will serve a six-year term beginning in January 2027.
Barr, who currently represents Central Kentucky in Congress, campaigned on supporting President Donald Trump’s agenda, strengthening border security and expanding domestic energy production while Booker emphasized addressing poverty, health care costs and housing affordability and Campbell focused on universal health care and limiting executive power.
