The lone undefeated football team in NKY resides in Park Hills. The Colonels capped off an undefeated regular season with a 35-7 victory over Campbell County on Oct. 27.

They enter the playoffs at 10-0 thanks to their balanced offensive attack with an array of weapons at the skill positions and a fundamental defense.

The Colonels outscored teams 446-143 this season, earning the No. 1 spot in Class 4A’s RPI ratings system. They’ll have the opportunity to host the first four playoff games as long as they keep advancing.

During the regular season they were guided by Evan Pitzer’s efficient play at quarterback, completing 73% of his passes for 2,062 yards, 24 touchdowns and just four interceptions on 171 pass attempts. Owen Leen led the rushing attack with 465 yards and eight touchdowns, Braylon Miller the top target out wide with 41 receptions for 641 yards and five touchdowns. Willie Rodriguez hauled in eight touchdown grabs while also helping bolster the defensive unit. Tate Kruer led the team with 80 tackles, Ben Reeves with a team-high six sacks.

Covington Catholic begins their postseason journey on Friday when they host Greenup County.

The Camels used that size advantage again with quick sets and cut down on the errors from a week ago. Sophomore setter Hope Hamilton had 28 of Campbell County’s 31 assists.

But a number of players had big roles in the win for Campbell County (19-13). The Camels had 57 digs and six aces. Crowl led the way with 15 digs with Hamilton digging up 12. A’lon McIntyre and Ella Thorwarth dug up seven balls each. Crowl and McIntyre had two aces each.
