The LINK nky Team of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Campbell County volleyball team.
It was a tight race! Campbell County volleyball and Holy Cross football were neck-and-neck all week with the Camels pulling through with 9,356 votes to Holy Cross’ 8,012.
Earning Campbell County Team of the Week honors was their performances against Highlands and Scott, earning two victories and positioning themselves for a No. 1 seed in the 37th District.
CAMPBELL COUNTY VOLLEYBALL
After a 5-7 start to the season, Campbell County is 9-5 in their last 14 games including victories over district rivals Scott and Bishop Brossart.
During the week they won Team of the Week they knocked off Highlands and Scott. It took all five sets to beat the Bluebirds, 3-2 (25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9). The Camels were led by Lexi Scharold with 18 kills and seven blocks, Emma Manser with 15 kills, Ava Crowl with 17 assists, Ella Thorwarth with 21 digs and three aces.
It was another five-setter with district rival Scott, 3-2 (9-25, 25-20, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12). Manser and Scharold once again led the way in the kills department, Manser with 14 and six blocks, Scharold with 13 and four blocks. Hope Hamilton had 23 assists, Thorwarth with 20 digs.
Campbell County followed that up with a 2-1 week in defeating Pendleton County and Bishop Brossart, the win over the Mustangs securing the No. 1 seed for the 37th District tournament that starts on Oct. 17.
