The LINK nky Team of the Week for Aug. 28-Sept. 3 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Bellevue football team.
Another solid week of voting as nearly 3,000 people voted with the Tigers taking over 2,000 of those votes. Thank you again for taking some time to vote and recognize these teams.
Earning Bellevue Team of the Week honors was their first victory in nearly two years with a 32-22 victory over Riverview East Academy (Ohio). They followed it up with another victory on Saturday, defeating Lynn Camp, 34-20.
BELLEVUE FOOTBALL TEAM
Bellevue tasted victory for the first time since Sept. 17, 2021, knocking off Riverview East Academy (Ohio), 32-22.
The Tigers scored more points in this game than they did all last season. Jordan Pendleton led the charge running the ball, tallying 202 yards and three touchdowns. Brayden Sizemore intercepted a pass while Wyatt Messman recorded six tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack. Will Lear added the other rushing touchdown as the Tigers converted all four of their two-point tries, Pendleton with two, Lear with one and Landon Corley the other.
In the 34-20 victory over Lynn Camp, Pendleton rushed for 172 more yards and two touchdowns. Tristan Woodyard added 60 yards and a touchdown on the ground, also throwing for 80 yards and a score. Peyton Hopper caught a 60-yard touchdown pass while Aiden Dickerson intercepted a pass and returned it 60 yards for a score.
Messman led the way defensively with 12 tackles, Kayne Ross, Dickerson and Landon Corley collecting nine tackles each. Pendleton had a sack to go with eight tackles.
The Tigers (2-2) now get a week off before they try and make it three in a row with a home game against Gamble Montessori (Ohio) on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
