The LINK nky Team of the Week for August 21-27 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Simon Kenton Volleyball Team.
Wow, what a week. Thank you all for voting as the Simon Kenton volleyball team racked up nearly 20,000 votes! Dayton football also showed out with over 12,000 votes.
Earning Simon Kenton of the Week honors was their 3-0 week, including a big victory over state ranked Ryle.
SIMON KENTON VOLLEYBALL
Simon Kenton followed up a 3-0 week with a 5-1 week this past week as they’re off to a 9-2 start to the season.
The 3-0 week included their first over Ryle since 2009, snapping a 14-game losing streak to the Raiders. They also earned victories over Highlands and Oldham County. The Pioneers earned a district victory over Williamstown and went 4-1 at the September Slam over the weekend at Town and Country in Wilder. In the latest Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Poll, Simon Kenton made their way into the top 25, ranked 22nd.
Standouts to help earn Simon Kenton Team of the Week were Jenna Kitchens, Keira Hans, Alisha Hawkins, Tori Chasteen, Sadie Rehkamp, Tiffanie Alo, Sophie Spanier and Ceanna Scalf.
