TPG Sports is bringing a new football franchise to Northern Kentucky with the launch of the Kentucky Blitz, an expansion team joining the American 7s Football League for the 2027 season.
The A7FL is a full-contact 7-on-7 football league played without helmets or traditional football pads. The format emphasizes speed, athleticism and physical play while creating a style of football that regularly produces highlight-level moments.
The Kentucky Blitz was officially announced by the A7FL on August 11 as part of the league’s continued national expansion. The team will compete beginning with the 2027 season and will represent Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati region.
“We want the Kentucky Blitz to become a team Northern Kentucky can really get behind,” said Anthony Tolliver, Founder and Owner of TPG Sports. “This area has an incredible football culture, and our goal is to build something that gives local players an opportunity to compete while also giving fans a completely different kind of football experience.”
The A7FL has drawn national attention as the league has grown. The format has been featured on The Pat McAfee Show with Pat McAfee and AJ Hawk, and former NFL All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie became the first NFL veteran to compete in the league. (A7FL)
The Blitz will begin building its roster, coaching staff, partnerships and community presence throughout Northern Kentucky in preparation for the 2027 season.
TPG Sports plans to make players, team leadership, photos, video footage and additional information available to local media as the franchise develops.
