NORTHERN KENTUCKY, June 16, 2026 — Finding a reliable plumber, HVAC tech, or electrician usually means posting in a neighborhood Facebook group, asking around, or scrolling through a long list of Google results and hoping for the best. Two Northern Kentucky natives think there should be an easier, more local way. This July, Chandler Farmer and Luke Williams will launch NKY Connect, a homegrown online marketplace that connects local homeowners with trusted home service providers, from HVAC and plumbing to electrical, landscaping, and more, all in one place.
The idea grew out of a problem the founders kept running into themselves. When something breaks at home, most people are not sure where to start. They end up crowdsourcing recommendations on social media or guessing between search results, with no easy way to compare local options. NKY Connect is built to fix that by giving Northern Kentucky residents one trusted place to find, compare, and book local pros in just a few taps.
For homeowners, the platform is completely free to use. There is no membership fee and no charge to browse or book a provider.
For the businesses on the other side, NKY Connect is built around a model that sets it apart from national lead-generation services: it is commission-free. Rather than charging providers a percentage of each job or a fee for every lead, NKY Connect charges a flat $50 per month, with no commissions and no per-lead fees. The company is also offering a two-month free trial to businesses that sign on before the July homeowner launch. Every dollar a contractor earns stays with the contractor.
“When something goes wrong at home, people shouldn’t have to post on Facebook and cross their fingers,” said Chandler Farmer, co-founder of NKY Connect. “We grew up here, and we wanted to build an easy, local way for our neighbors to find someone they can trust, while helping our local businesses grow instead of taking a cut from them.”
The founders bring a mix of business and engineering experience to the venture. Farmer earned a degree in cybersecurity and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University, while co-founder Luke Williams studied computer science at the University of Kentucky and works as a senior software engineer.
“We wanted booking a plumber or an HVAC tech to feel as easy as ordering anything else online,” said Williams. “The whole experience is built to take the friction out of home maintenance for the people of Northern Kentucky.”
