Boo Project Stream & Environmental Cleanup Day June 6

DeMossville, KY — The second annual Boo Project Day will be held on Saturday, June 6 bringing together volunteers for a community cleanup effort focused on local streams, roadsides, and public areas in the Grassy Creek area of Pendleton County.

The June 6 event will begin at 8 a.m. at Grassy Creek Christian Church, 6884 Hwy 17 N, DeMossville, KY. Volunteers will gather at the church before heading out to assigned cleanup areas. The event will focus on removing trash, tires, and debris from the three local streams, roadsides, and public spaces. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at www.boosingletonproject.com. Registration is not required, but recommended to assist with planning for food and clean up supplies.

The event is organized through the Boo Singleton Project with support from local volunteers, several community organizations, local businesses, civic groups, Pendleton County Emergency Management, Pendleton County Solid Waste & 109 Board, a grant with the Kentucky Waterways Alliance, and other local partners. Community members, families, churches, businesses, civic groups, and organizations are encouraged to participate.

Boo Project Day honors the legacy of Boo Singleton, a dedicated community volunteer whose service inspired others to continue giving back. The cleanup also supports local efforts to protect the Licking River, South Fork Licking River, and streams used by residents and visitors for paddling, fishing, and outdoor recreation.

Last year’s inaugural Boo Project Day included more than 100 volunteers and several community organizations. Volunteers worked together to remove trash, tires, and debris from areas in and around the city of Butler, helping improve the appearance, safety, and environmental health of the community.

This year’s event continues that effort and helps support the long-term goal of keeping Pendleton County’s waterways and roadsides clean for residents, visitors, wildlife, and future generations. The project has also helped lead to the creation of the Pendleton County Waterways Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed to continue supporting local cleanup efforts on waterways and along roadsides.
