Hebron Branch of Boone County Public Library

The Boone County Public Library Foundation was recently awarded a $25,000 grant in support of the project Rejuvenate, Grow, Charge: Powered by the Community. This project was financially assisted by H.G., H.F. & Louise Tuechter Dornette Foundation, Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Trustee.

Through a multi-phased and collaborative approach with county agencies and funders, this project will transform more than 30 acres at the Library’s Hebron Branch into an interactive and inclusive environment designed to promote environmental literacy, physical and mental wellness with walking trails and community gardens, as well as access to clean energy.

“In 2025, the Library gathered public feedback about what they would like to see for this outdoor space,” said Carrie Herrmann, Executive Director of Boone County Public Library. “This engagement confirmed strong community interest in outdoor amenities that complement the Library’s educational and programming mission, particularly spaces for community gatherings and passive recreation.”

By integrating natural landscapes with opportunities for learning, recreation, nutrition and sustainable energy use, the project will deliver meaningful benefits across environmental, conservation, social and wellness dimensions, fostering deeper community engagement and connection.

The first phase of the project is expected to begin in early fall 2026.
