Fort Mitchell, KY [April 30, 2026] — DCCH Center proudly announces it has been awarded a one-time $3.5 million appropriation from the Kentucky General Assembly to support critical infrastructure improvements for its Residential Treatment Program and to pilot a Transitional Living program. This marks the first time in DCCH Center’s 178-year history that the organization has received a direct state appropriation.
The funding represents a life-changing investment in the future of DCCH Center and the children, young adults, and families it serves. The appropriation will allow DCCH to modernize and enhance facilities that support its Residential Treatment Program, ensuring safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environments for children with complex emotional and behavioral needs.
In addition, a portion of the funding will be used to explore a Transitional Living program designed to help older youth successfully bridge the gap from residential care to independent adulthood. The program will focus on life skills development, education and career readiness, and stable housing support – critical components for long-term success.
“This historic appropriation is a powerful affirmation of the importance of our mission and the needs of the children and families we serve,” said Denise Govan, President of DCCH Center. “As communities across Kentucky face growing youth mental health needs, this investment will help ensure more children have access to safe, stable, and clinically appropriate care close to home.”
DCCH Center extends its sincere gratitude to members of the Kentucky General Assembly for their support and vision in making this funding possible. We would specifically like to recognize: Representative Kim Moser (DCCH Center Board Member), Senator Chris McDaniel, Representative Kim Banta and Representative Stephanie Dietz. Their commitment will directly improve the lives of vulnerable children and youth across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
