COVINGTON, KY – Artmarkit’s second Art/Zine/Clothing/Accessory Swap & Potluck will be held at the Hellmann Creative Center, located at 321 West Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, Covington, KY 41011, on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 from 6 – 9 p.m. The event builds on last year’s successful swap, which brought neighbors together to exchange hundreds of garments and keep usable clothing and accessories out of landfills. Community members are encouraged to bring clean, gently used (or new!) clothing, accessories, and art to exchange with items brought by other participants.
Entry is free. Optional $5, $10, or $20 “give-what-you-can” tickets support scholarships for Artmarkit’s Camp Kit: The Creative Exchange or to Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio. All donators will be entered into a raffle – where the winner receives a summer art party at Artmarkit!
“My goal is to make sure perfectly good pieces in people’s closets actually reach people who will wear and love them,” said Katie “Kit” Threet Kroeger, Artmarkit’s owner and operator. “Earth Month is the perfect moment to bring people together around sustainability, upcycling, and creative reuse.”
Attendees can bring clothing and accessories of any style or size. Zines and art to trade are also encouraged at this swap. Mirrors and try-on areas will be available, and participants are welcome to take what they need — even if they bring in fewer or no items at all. Local custom clothiers InStitches by Becky Scott and Yallterations Alexia Callahan will be at the event with a menu of services available for a fee. There will be a free Upcycle Bar featuring designs by Artmarkit and the Covington Cryptid Block Party – add your own block print to a newly acquired item, embroider, fabric paint, or sew on a patch! All remaining pieces at the end of the night will be donated to locally-owned thrift stores.
