New Nonprofit to Empower Teens and Young Adults with Developmental Differences Opens this October in Northern Kentucky
A groundbreaking new nonprofit, Perspectives: Skills for Life, will officially open its doors on October 15, 2025, offering innovative, evidence-based programming to teens and young adults ages 11-25 with developmental differences. Located in Northern Kentucky, Perspectives: Skills for Life is dedicated to helping teens and young adults with developmental differences gain the skills, confidence, and connections they need to thrive at home, in school, at work, and in life. Programs are tailored to the unique strengths and needs of each learner and provides practical tools that build confidence, communication, and independence.

Programs That Prepare for Life:
At launch, Perspectives will offer a range of structured, research-backed programs, including:
• Connections After School – A safe, supportive space after school where students receive help with homework, engage in team-building activities, and continue to build social skills—all under the supervision of certified staff.
• PEERS® Social Skills Groups – Developed by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson from UCLA, this program helps teens and young adults build and maintain meaningful friendships.
• Healthy Living Habits – Covering essential topics such as online safety, consensual boundaries, appropriate relationships, and wellness.
• Perspectives Membership – Over 30 inclusive social events annually that promote connection, belonging, and real-life practice. Events include cooking classes, movie nights, game nights, and more, plus quarterly family events.
• L.A.U.N.C.H. – Helps explore personal strengths, identify career interests, and build the foundational communication, planning, and self-advocating skills needed to transition to employment.
• STRW: Perspectives is the first facility in the U.S. to offer Surviving and Thriving in the Real World (STRW)—a 16-week daily living skills program created by Dr. Aime Duncan, PhD, which can be done in-person or virtually.
