The cross and flame emblem of the United Methodist Church is symbol of welcome recognized around the world.

Every July brings a new sense of refreshment to our area’s United Methodist churches (UMC), and this year, new and expanded pastoral leadership for two local congregations. As they embark on a new year, UMC congregations across Northern Kentucky look to engage with their wider communities.

LUDLOW/BROMLEY (Kenton County)
Ludlow’s Wesley United Methodist Church (319 Oak Street in Ludlow) welcomed Michael Girdwood as its new lead pastor on July 6th. Pastor Mike brings a deep commitment to following Christ’s example, serving the marginalized, and engaging younger generations. A locally licensed pastor in the United Methodist Church and a Master’s student at Louisville Seminary, Mike is eager to build on Wesley UMC’s legacy of faith and service in the Ludlow & Bromley communities.

ERLANGER and NORTHERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY (Boone and Campbell Counties)
Antioch recently expanded its staff with the addition of Dom Guido who also serves as the new Director of the Vine & Branches campus ministry at Northern Kentucky University. Antioch United Methodist Church meets at Receptions Event Center at 1379 Donaldson Hwy. in Erlanger. The lead pastor is Caleb Wheat.

FORT THOMAS (Campbell County)
Highland United Methodist Church (314 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas) is committed to serving the community through a wide array of Sunday morning and midweek groups, projects and gatherings. Highlands’ lead pastor is John Bowling.

LATONIA (Kenton County)
Trinity United Methodist Church (101 E. Southern Ave., Latonia) is home to the UMC Food Ministry (UMCFoodMinistry.org), and also hosts a dinner church for the community. Both ministries focus on filling the gaps and providing for those who simply need a warm meal and a welcoming environment. Trinity’s lead pastor is Larry Karow.

STAFFORDSBURG (Kenton County)
Staffordsburg United Methodist Church (11815 Staffordsburg Rd., Independence) serves southern Kenton County with their own initiatives to love people as God does. Staffordsburg’s lead pastor is Kristie Stricker.
