Elsmere City Council voted to amend changes to the pricing structure for the community center at its meeting on Tuesday.

At last week’s meeting, council discussed rate increases of $25 to $50 for non-residential events.

The city receives about $25,000 in public funding to maintain the space, but Deputy Clerk Lauren Thyen said the administrative requirements that come along with the funding don’t always give city leaders the freedom they want for programming and other community events.

“I’m trying to kind of make it so that the community center itself is kind of bringing in all the money that it needs to run so that it can kind of be a self-sustaining program,” Thyen said.

Council decided against keeping the community center open additional days during the week, as discussed at last week’s meeting.

The new rental pricing will be adopted for next year on Jan. 1, 2027.
