Seven state employees and one office employee received Governor’s Ambassador Awards at the Kentucky Capitol on Wednesday.

“Today’s winners have supported tornado survivors, helped disabled Kentuckians get their independence back, shared the stories of Kentucky’s veterans who sacrificed for our freedom, served as health care heroes and so much more,” said Gov. Andy Beshear, whose father, Steve, launched the awards in 2008.

The personnel cabinet received 176 nominations, including 2,028 state employees for the awards, celebrating community service and volunteerism, courage, customer service, leadership, professional achievement and teamwork.
