I’m proud to support my mom, Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon, for re-election as Mayor of Florence. As her son and a college athlete, I’ve seen firsthand her dedication to our family and our community.
Growing up, I played many sports, eventually pursuing soccer at the college level. Sports taught me lessons beyond winning and losing; they taught me teamwork, discipline, time management, perseverance, and how to work toward goals with others.
My mom supported me all the way, spent countless hours driving me to practices, traveling to tournaments, and cheering from the sidelines. She rarely missed a game.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that the way my mom supported me is the same way she supports Florence. She shows up, works hard, and genuinely cares about people.
She understands that every young person deserves opportunities to discover their talents, whether through athletics, arts, academics, or other interests. Investing in our youth means investing in Florence’s future.
As Mayor, my mom has ensured that programming for youth included DARE classes, the teen police academy, safe sitter babysitting classes, student arts contests, sports camps, and more.
