LINK nky’s Educator of the Week nominees

At LINK nky, we believe that educators – whether they are teachers or principals, tutors or superintendents – are at the heart of our community’s success. The Educator of the Week contest is our way of recognizing and celebrating the incredible educators who go above and beyond for Northern Kentucky students every day.

Each week, we will choose three nominees who have made an impact on their community and who represent a diverse mix of roles, grade levels, subject areas, school types and geographic locations.

The Educators

Zachary Gilbert

Educator: Zachary Gilbert

Role: Teacher at Campbell County Middle School

Nominator: Casey Terrain

Why Terrain nominated Gilbert:

Mr.Gilbert is an amazing teacher, he gets the kids involved in science and makes them understand. You never see a kid sitting in his class and he involves everyone. He is a girls volley ball coach, is currently a team lead, and piloting the smart board at CCMS. All while raising a family at home. He is an outstanding teacher always willing to help staff and students with science and math questions as well as technology

Sherri Cornett

Educator: Sherri Cornett

Role: Teacher at Turkey Foot Middle School

Nominator: Patrick Walker

Why Walker nominated Cornett:

Mrs. Cornett is the best teacher because she is always there to help her students succeed. No matter what we are working on, she takes the time to explain things clearly and makes sure everyone understands. She goes above and beyond by helping with activities like Academic Team and STLP, giving us extra support and encouragement to do our best.

What makes Mrs. Cornett stand out is how much she truly cares about her students. She is patient, kind, and always willing to listen when someone needs help. She creates a classroom where everyone feels supported and motivated to learn.

Overall, Mrs. Cornett isn’t just a great teacher—she’s someone who inspires her students to work hard and believe in themselves. That’s why she is the best teacher.

Educator: Nicholas Little

Nicholas Little

Role: Teacher at Campbell County High School

Nominator: Josie Phelps

Why Phelps nominated Little:

I nominate Mr.Little because he has been the best high school and marching band director ever. He always makes sure everyone feels included and no kid is ever left out or falling behind. He also takes his time to get to know all of his students by name and stuff they are interested in. Mr.little always checks in if someone seems off and allows them to get what they need to feel at least a little bit better.
