The U.S. Coast Guard will implement temporary waterway restrictions on the Ohio River for the upcoming American River Roots festival.
A no-wake zone will be in effect from 6 a.m. Oct. 8 to 11:59 p.m. Oct. 12, between mile markers 466.5, which is the Schmidt Field Boat Ramp, and 474, or the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club, as well as on the Licking River from mile marker 0.0 to 0.3.
The Coast Guard will also enforce temporary river closures during the following times:
- Oct. 9 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. – Ohio River closed from mile marker 467.8, or the Ferry Street Park, to 472.3, or the Cincinnati Southern Railroad Bridge; Licking River closed from mile marker 0.0 to 0.3.
- Oct. 10 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. – Ohio River closed from mile marker 466.5, or the Schmidt Field Boat Ramp, to 471.2, or the Brent Spence Bridge. Licking River closed from mile marker 0.0 to 0.3.
- Oct. 11 from 12:30 to 7 p.m. – Same closure area as Friday.
- Oct. 12 from 3 to 10 p.m. – Ohio River closed from mile marker 466.5 or the Schmidt Field Boat Ramp, to 474, or the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club; Licking River closed from mile marker 0.0 to 0.3.
Large passenger vessels will operate from Cincinnati Public Landing and Serpentine Wall throughout the event. Additional red navigational buoys will be placed between the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge and the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge to assist small and recreational vessels. The Coast Guard advises boaters to use the Kentucky side of the buoys for transit.
Law enforcement agencies will patrol affected waterways to enforce restrictions and applicable laws.
