Villa Madonna Academy dedicated its new high school and junior high STEM wing on Friday.
The new wing is dedicated to Chase and Cole Fischer, who passed away in a boating accident in July 2023. Both had been students at the academy. Chase played tennis and ran cross country. He was preparing to attend the University of Utah. Cole had just graduated from eighth grade and was beginning to immerse himself in the culture at Elder High School.

The new wing features a student commons area and multiple labs dedicated to a variety of subject areas, including medicine, chemistry, physics and biology. It also features a variety of STEM equipment, including lasers, 3D printers, woodworking tools and a heat press, among other equipment.

“This wing was made possible through an extraordinary act of generosity, and it is dedicated in honor of Chase and Cole,” said Executive Director Pamela McQueen. “It stands as a lasting tribute to two young lives whose joy, kindness, laughter and spirit touched so many of us. It stands as a tribute to their enduring curiosity, their sense of adventure and the goodness and grace that they brought to our campus.”
“I hope to see students making things that I never dreamed possible,” said High School Principal Joe Cordonnier.
