The inaugural Northern Kentucky History Weekend will occur in several cities across the region this May.
Five nonprofit historic organizations—Ludlow Historic Society, Behringer-Crawford Museum, Erlanger Elsmere Historical Society, the Fort Thomas Military and Community History Museum and the Kenton County Historical Society—are collaborating to present several local history events and programs in cities across Northern Kentucky.
The weekend is scheduled for May 17 and 18. All events are free to attend, although a ticket purchase is required for the Ludlow Lagoon Legacy Festival walking tours and lectures.
The weekend allows individuals to participate in walking tours, visit exhibits, listen to historians and speakers, and delve into Northern Kentucky’s local history.

“Driftwood” The Life of Harlan Hubbard
Saturday, May 17
Behringer Crawford Museum, 1600 Montague Rd. in Covington
- Learn about local artist Harlan Hubbard, a pioneer in sustainable lifestyles. Museum curator Jason French will give participants a free guided tour of the Hubbard exhibit. Tours will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Ludlow Lagoon Legacy Festival
Saturday, May 17
Ludlow Community Center, 808 Elm St. in Ludlow
- Attendees will have access to a walking tour, exhibits, lectures, food, music and games that celebrate the historic Ludlow Lagoon Amusement Park. A ticket is required for entrance.
Erlanger Historical Train Depot Museum Open House
Saturday, May 17
Erlanger Train Depot Museum, 3319 Crescent Ave. in Erlanger
- The museum is hosting an open house featuring exhibits, local history and refreshments.
Walking Tour of the Fort and Midway
Sunday, May 18
Mess Hall at Tower Park, 801 Cochran Ave. in Ft. Thomas
- Participants can discover the history of the Fort Thomas Army Post, stroll through the fort’s grounds, and investigate the original business district of Fort Thomas.
Covington Waterfront Murals Presentation
Sunday, May 18
Location: TBD
- Attendees can observe and learn about the floodwall murals in an informative session highlighting Covington’s history.
