Wilder welcomed new members to its emergency response teams during their meeting Monday evening.
Tommaso Giannetta will join Wilder’s fire team and help replace a position that was lost earlier this year, according to Mayor Valerie Jones.
“Tommaso is one of eight qualified candidates who applied during our most recent hiring period,” Jones said. “From my perspective, I’m just thrilled that he found Wilder the place to be.”
Giannetta is coming from Southgate’s fire department. Fire Chief John Beatsch came to support his former employee.
“You’re getting a really good one,” Beatsch said. “He’s going to do really well for you.”
Wilder Fire Chief Doug Neyman replied back, “You keep making them, and we’ll keep taking them.”
Up next is Zachary Harvey, who will join Wilder’s public works team. Harvey joined the works team this past summer as a part-time employee. Crew leader Aaron Keene said Harvey has been a huge asset to the team.
“Harvey is just an outstanding young man,” Keene said. “His due diligence and ability to learn things quickly, his adaptability and his all around personality is a huge asset for this city in the future as we move forward.”
Along with the new hires came a promotion for police officer Adam Peak. Peak will now serve as Wilder’s Lieutenant, a position which has not been filled for several years according to Police Chief Chad Martin.
“The role of the lieutenant is primarily somebody that is going to take the vision of the police department and transform it into the daily operations for the officers,” Martin said.
Due to a medical emergency, Officer Peak could not be in attendance. Wilder plans to celebrate him at its November council meeting.
