The Fort Mitchell Police Department is now fully staffed after swearing in new officer Joseph Maier earlier this month.

Maier spent over 23 years as an officer for the Florence Police Department.

There, he rose to the rank of lieutenant and retired from the department in 2019. In 2020, Maier was hired as the police chief for the city of Elsmere. He served in that position until the fall of 2023.

The addition of Maier to the Fort Mitchell Police Department rounds out the force and creates a fully staffed police department. This is rare, with many Northern Kentucky police departments facing consistent staffing issues

“We’re happy to have him,” Fort Mitchell Police Chief Robert Nader said. “He brings a wealth of experience.”
