A malfunctioning transformer outside Macy’s department store at the Florence Mall caught fire Wednesday afternoon, according to Florence police.
Fire crews had left the scene as of 5:30, police told LINK nky.
Reader Hayley Jarman sent LINK nky a video of the fire she said she took at about 4:30 Wednesday.
The fire comes after a power outage and subsequent closure of the mall earlier on Wednesday, which the mall posted about on its Facebook page.
The post said at 3 p.m. that power was fully restored and the mall would be open until 8 p.m. as normal, but a subsequent update confirmed a second power outage that would close the mall for the remainder of the day.
