Florence city officials who want to pursue continuing education and training may soon be able to do so through a state program that incentivizes municipalities.
Florence City Council discussed an ordinance addressing the legislation at its July 25 meeting.
Mayor Julie Metzger-Aubuchon said the ordinance “adopts a training incentive program designed to encourage qualifying city officials to pursue educational opportunities and advanced training to enhance and promote efficient operation of city government.”
Councilmember Mel Carroll said the city wants officials to be up to date on laws and regulations in place in Kentucky.
“We have certain responsibilities, so we want to be sure that all of our people are trained at all times,” Carroll said.
The second reading is scheduled for Aug. 8. Council may take a vote on that day, according to the clerk’s office.
