The Campbell County Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to add its chief information officer position to the district’s classified salary schedule during its July 18 meeting.
At just under 5,000 students, Campbell County Schools is one of the largest school districts in the region. The Campbell County Schools Technology department is responsible for providing a safe, reliable and secure internet connection to all Campbell County Schools classrooms, according to its webpage. Stephen Riddle currently serves as the chief information officer.
Superintendent Shelli Wilson presented the idea to the board at Tuesday’s meeting.
The district typically pays a “competitive” salary, Campbell said, which is calculated based on the average salary for that position and “a certain percentage higher” than the surrounding districts.
