Equipped with a new skill set, a group of incarcerated women at River City Correctional Center are slated to participate in a graduation ceremony celebrating completion of the Northern Kentucky University Second Chance Education Program.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the River City Correctional Center in Cincinnati. It will celebrate women who studied IT in order to create a pathway to college and livable wages.

NKU’s College of Informatics created the Second Chance Education Program in collaboration with the university’s social work program.

Program participants received basic computer concepts training, officials noted, and instruction focusing on professional use of Microsoft Word and Excel. The program also yields three college credits upon transfer to Northern Kentucky University.
