U.S. 27, or Alexandria Pike, will experience single-lane closures to allow for road widening construction beginning Monday, May 15, according to a press release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The work will take place southbound along the road between Johns Hill Road and Marshall Lane.
Sidewalks near Marshall Lane will also be closed and walking detour signs for pedestrians will be posted. Local residents can still access businesses and other buildings near the work sites.
Monday, May 15 beginning at 6 p.m. to Tuesday, May 16 at 7 a.m.: U.S. 27 northbound and southbound will be reduced to one lane to allow crews time to install traffic control devices, and new striping for the project. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times during this traffic shift. The traffic control being set up will be in place through Thursday, June 29.
Tuesday, May 16 beginning at 7 a.m.: U.S. 27 southbound traffic will be maintained with two lanes of traffic. U.S. 27 northbound traffic will resume its normal three lanes of through traffic. This traffic pattern will be in place throughout the entirety of the project.
The following closures will also be in place for the duration of the project:
- Marshall Lane – between U.S. 27 and Bluegrass Drive
- Alexandria Way – between U.S. 27 and Elblaine Drive
- Bluegrass Drive connector (between Applebee’s and Walgreens) – closed at U.S. 27″
