The search for a woman who walked away from an Independence nursing home ended Wednesday with the discovery of her body.
Sherry Moore, 67, was found dead in the woods near Regency Manor in Independence, the facility from which she walked away last week.
On Tuesday, Kenton County Police reiterated its call for the public’s help in locating Moore, who suffered from diabetes and dementia and was without medication.
Moore was found by an Independence Fire Department search team acting on a tip provided by the EquuSearch Midwest Search and Recovery Team. The tip was the result of information gained from a drone flyover, police said.
The Independence Fire Department had been actively involved in the search for Moore since last Thursday when she vanished.
Police said that Moore’s walking away from Regency Manor continues to be investigated and that an autopsy will be performed.
