The LINK nky Educator of the Week contest recognizes and celebrates the incredible educators who go above and beyond for Northern Kentucky students every day.
Each week, we will choose three nominees who have made an impact on their community and who represent a diverse mix of roles, grade levels, subject areas, school types and geographic locations.
LINK nky’s Educator of the Week is sponsored by Gateway Community & Technical College. Each weekly winner will advance to the Educator of the Semester contest, where readers will vote to select one outstanding educator to receive a $100 gift card from Gateway to help purchase classroom supplies, decorations and other school essentials.

The Educators

Educator: Gary Tosh
Role: Teacher at Ballyshannon Middle School
Nominators: Clinton Sargent
Why Sargent nominated Tosh:
Mr. Tosh is very engaging. He turns what I used to think was boring and makes it interesting. If there is a problem, he tries his best to solve it.
He will make sure his students understand. He answers all of our questions no matter how ridiculous. Mr Tosh made it easy to learn.

Educator: Sarah Weber
Role: Teacher at Campbell County Middle School
Nominator: Eleanor Ogonek
Why Ogonek nominated Weber:
I am nominating Ms. Weber because she has helped me grow in so many ways. Ms.Weber is a 6th grade accelerated ELA teacher. She would be the reason I showed up to school most days; she has never failed to make me laugh with her stories about her son. I often come back and see her when I have time. Campbell County Middle school doesn’t know how lucky they are to have her a teacher. Thank you, Ms. Weber, for all you do!

Educator: Katie Heister
Role: Teacher at St. Mary School
Nominators: Mollie Gavin
Why Gavin nominated Heister: Katie is a fantastic teacher. She’s taught 3rd grade for 20 years and has always put her students first.
Katie goes above and beyond for her students inside and outside the classroom. She’s worked at St. Mary for 20 years and has made a positive impact on the community.
