A previous Honor Flight send off at CVG.

Veterans and their families departed from CVG Airport this morning at 7:30 a.m. for the area’s first honor flight of 2022.

Honor Flight Tri-State offers free flights for veterans who are 65 years old or older to visit the memorials of their respective wars in Washington D.C.

The April 19 flight will include visits to the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Iwo Jima, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the US Air Force Memorial and other Washington DC memorials.

The flight was preceded by a send off ceremony that began at 5:45 a.m. The ceremony featured bagpipes from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, a TSA color guard ceremony, and other special remarks at the Welcome Point area on the lower level of the CVG Terminal building.

The flight returns CVG at 9:30 p.m. today. The attendees flew on an American Airlines chartered flight.
