Elsmere will soon be home to a $100 million Chick-fil-A Supply distribution center.
Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is set to develop a 270,000-square-foot facility in the small Kenton County city to support around 150 restaurants in Greater Cincinnati, according to a press release from the governor’s office.
The distribution center will be in the C5 Airport East Logistics Center on Buffington Road. The complex consists of five buildings, two of which are occupied by e-commerce company fun.com and hand sanitizer manufacturer Diversey. Niagara Bottling is also set to move into the complex by 2026.
Chick-fil-A Supply, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chick-fil-A, is a distribution food and supplies service provider that supports existing Chick-fil-A restaurants. The subsidiary operates nine distribution centers in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Ohio, Kansas and Texas, each of which plays a central role in the logistics and distribution of ingredients and supplies to restaurants.
During the first year, Chick-fil-A Supply plans to employ more than 130 people, including a general manager and various leadership positions, drivers, navigators, warehouse team members and maintenance technicians, per the release.
“Once again, an industry-leading company is making a major investment in our commonwealth and our incredible workforce,” Gov. Andy Beshear said in the release. “This investment by Chick-fil-A Supply in Northern Kentucky will provide incredible job opportunities for families across the region, and I am looking forward to their future success here in their new Kentucky home.”
Additionally, once the distribution center becomes operational, Chick-fil-A Inc. will donate $25,000 to a Feeding America partner food bank to support local hunger relief efforts.
“Elsmere not only provides access to quality talent, but its unique location will also allow us to receive product by rail; the third distribution center in our network to do so,” Chick-fil-A Supply Executive Director Josh Grote said in the release. “We’re grateful to the Elsmere community and Commonwealth of Kentucky for the warm welcome and look forward to serving Chick-fil-A restaurants in the area.”
Chick-fil-A is expected to move into the facility by 2026.
