Maura Snyder was elected to serve as the new treasurer for the Kenton County Planning Commission on Tuesday night. Snyder is the Independence representative on the commission and will assume the role following the retirement of former Treasurer Phil Ryan.
“I’m just excited to help the planning commission and keep things going in the right direction,” Snyder said.
“She’s been the long-standing Independence rep, and there’s a lot of work,” said Planning Commission Chair Brian Dunham, who was the one who nominated Snyder for the position. “As we all know, Independence is a hotbed of development, just because that’s where land and infrastructure is located, and she does a lot of work.”
The position is elected from within the planning commission, rather than through a popular ballot measure. Tuesday’s vote was cast by acclamation, i.e., with a single voice vote as a group, instead of a one-by-one tally. There was no opposition.
“Thank you for your vote of confidence,” Snyder told the commission members upon being elected.
