Former Highlands High School teacher, Andrea Conners, was back in front of Campbell County Circuit Court Judge Fred Stine today. Conners was sentenced to serve 90 days in the Campbell County jail and five years probation for engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage male student. She is likely to lose her teaching certificate, and she is also likely to be registered as a sex offender for life. Conners plead guilty to the charges in June, and could have faced up to five years in jail. Due to the guilty plea, neither Conners nor the student had to testify in court. The victim and victim’s family did not attend the sentencing today.
Some more startling details were revealed today in the court room. Over the course of several months, Conners reportedly engaged in sexual activity with the student in a Highlands High School classroom and also a state park. Additionally, the victim has reportedly been hospitalized on four separate occasions for anxiety and depression since the affair went public.
What do you think of today’s sentencing?
