COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, OHIO – More than 700 cyclists are expected to gather at Fifty West Brewing Company on Saturday, August 29 for the fourth annual Tour de CROWN. Presented by Great Parks, this community bike ride is Tri-State Trails’ signature fundraising ride supporting the completion of the Cincinnati Riding or Walking Network (CROWN).
Participants can choose from three route options—34 miles, 17.5 miles, or 8.5 miles—each offering a unique opportunity to experience the CROWN as it exists today, while helping build the trail network of tomorrow. The event concludes with a community celebration and the Tour de CROWN Trail Expo at Fifty West Brewing Company, where riders and visitors can connect with local nonprofits, cycling and wellness organizations, and businesses working to make Greater Cincinnati a more connected region where people can safely walk, bike, and explore.
Every Tour de CROWN registration supports Tri-State Trails’ work of completing the 34-mile CROWN urban trail loop, an ambitious network of trails connecting neighborhoods, parks, schools, business districts, and destinations across Greater Cincinnati. The ride gives participants a firsthand look at the momentum behind the project. Three exciting trail improvements will be featured this year:
• The new 0.2 mile section of Wasson Way from Station Way to Dana Avenue through Xavier University’s campus;
• The recently widened and repaved Lunken Airport loop trail; and
• The under-construction Columbia Connector, which will link the Wasson Way and Murray Path down to the Little Miami Scenic Trail behind Fifty West Brewing Company.
The ride also highlights future CROWN connections that are funded or in the planning phase. Some examples include the City of Cincinnati’s Phase 7 of Wasson Way (Blair Court to MLK Jr. Drive and Reading Road) and Great Parks’ planned Oasis / Ohio River Trail (International Friendship Park to Lunken Airport trail loop).
Completing a regional trail network takes years of planning, collaboration, advocacy, engineering, and investment. The Tour de CROWN brings people together to experience what’s already been built while helping advance the partnerships and projects that will complete the remaining connections.
