Bishop Brossart Graduate Jackson Steffen Wins National Breast Cancer Family Scholarship
The Cold Spring, Kentucky senior was chosen from almost 400 applicants nationwide and receives $500 toward his electrical apprenticeship at Enzweiler Building Institute.

Walton, Kentucky. 08-12-2026. Jackson Steffen of Cold Spring, Kentucky, a 2026 graduate of Bishop Brossart High School in Alexandria, has been named a runner-up recipient of the first annual FITBODY Pink Breast Cancer Family Scholarship. He was selected from almost 400 applications submitted by graduating seniors across the country and receives a $500 award toward the electrical apprenticeship program at Enzweiler Building Institute.
The scholarship recognizes graduating high school seniors who helped hold their families together while a parent went through breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Steffen’s family faced two cancer diagnoses in two years. His father was treated during Steffen’s junior year, and his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer soon after, going on to have a double mastectomy.
“I realized, at that moment, that I needed to show her the support that she has shown us,” Steffen wrote of the day of his mother’s surgery.
“The trades reward exactly the things he has already shown, which are showing up, doing the work, and being someone a family can count on,” said Julie Lohre, founder of FITBODY Pink and a two-time breast cancer survivor.
Steffen was voted a basketball team captain as a junior. After a knee injury ended his playing career during his senior season, he stayed with the team from the bench, working with the coaching staff, and now coaches a select team of his own. He begins at Enzweiler Building Institute this fall.

The FITBODY Pink Breast Cancer Family Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors whose parent or guardian has been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was founded by Julie Lohre, an IFBB Fitness Pro, Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer, and two-time breast cancer survivor who has coached women for more than 20 years. Lohre was first diagnosed during her son’s senior year of high school, and again during his sophomore year of college. FITBODY Pink is an online fitness and nutrition coaching program for women rebuilding their strength after breast cancer treatment.
