There will be two upcoming chances to hear from the eight candidates for Covington City Commission.
All four incumbents are seeking reelection and four challengers are hoping to grab their seats. In the May primary, in which five candidates were eliminated from the crowded field, incumbents Steve Frank and Chuck Eilerman captured the top two spots while challengers Jordan Huizenga and Bill Wells claimed the other two money spots.
Incumbent Mildred Rains finished fifth followed by challenger Warner Allen, incumbent Michelle Williams, and challenger Christi Blair. The top four will be elected in November.
The Covington Business Council hosts the candidates during its monthly luncheon next week. The event is set for Thursday, September 18, and runs from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Covington Human Rights Commission, a body created in 2003 with the passage of the city’s human rights ordinance, and whose members are appointed with a vote by the city commission, will host a candidates’ forum in October.
That event is set for Thursday, October 9, at the Kenton County Public Library from 6 – 8 p.m. Kentucky Human Rights Commissioner Field Representative John CK Fisher will moderate and panelists will include Human Rights Commission members Marie Braun, Pamela Mullins, Gerri Rader, and Jimmy Williams.
Candidates will focus on issues related to civil and human rights and how they relate to current laws.
