One person is dead following a crash on I-75 in Walton Tuesday morning.

The single-vehicle crash occurred a little after 6 a.m. near mile maker 170, according to Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said that the driver of the vehicle appeared to have lost control due to heavy rain and struck a concrete median wall when it overturned.

The passenger in the right rear passenger seat, Jose Alejandro Cruz Zeledon, 47, of Dry Ridge, was ejected from the vehicle. Deputies said that lifesaving measures were attempted, but ultimately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with nonlifethreatening injuries, and the front passenger sustained no injuries, deputies said.

The sheriff’s office has said that speed and alcohol/drug impairment do not appear to be factors in the collision.
