A local nonprofit organization aimed at helping people maintain housing or find emergency housing assistance announced Tuesday that it has distributed $232,250 to help keep the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati community housed and fed.
The Apartment Association Outreach aims to help people across the area with emergency assistance, rental assistance, food donations, school supplies, scholarships and senior citizen events.
“Year-to-date, we have sent $85,000 to our 20 food pantries and we have surpassed $100,000 in rent assistance this year,” said Megan Lawhon, president of the organization. “All of our programs are funded from outreach partnerships and help thousands of individuals in our communities.”
The organization recently donated $31,500 to its rent assistance partners — Freestore Foodbank, Churches Active in Northside, Santa Maria Community Services and Jewish Family Service.
The Rent Assistance Program is designed for people who have trouble paying their rent either due to a personal emergency or conflict beyond their control.
In addition, the organization recently sent $25,000 to its food pantry partners located throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
“We are so fortunate to be able to partner with 20 food pantries throughout the tri-state area and help our community members in need,” Lawhon said.
