Adam Ritter is the next Superintendent of Campbell County Schools.

The Campbell County Board of Education began the superintendent search process in April and worked throughout the following months to identify the best person to lead the district. In partnership with the Kentucky School Boards Association’s Superintendent Search Services, the search attracted applicants from throughout the country.

As part of the process, a screening committee composed of classified and certified staff
members, a parent, a principal and a board member reviewed candidates and provided
input to the board. Interviews followed, and after consideration, the board unanimously selected Ritter to serve as the district’s next superintendent.

Ritter currently serves as the associate superintendent for Campbell County Schools.

During his 18 years with the district, he has also served as an assistant principal and principal at Campbell County High School. Before working in Campbell County Schools, he was a business education teacher and a counselor. The school district said in a news release that his experience and understanding of the district and education have prepared him to lead Campbell County Schools into the future.

A lifelong member of the Campbell County community, Ritter resides there with his wife, Lisa. Their daughter is a 2026 graduate of Campbell County High School, and their son attends Campbell County Middle School.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the board of education for the confidence you have placed in me by selecting me to serve as the next superintendent of Campbell County Schools,” said Ritter. “I am truly honored and grateful for this opportunity. Campbell County has been my home my entire life, and Campbell County Schools has been my professional home for the past 18 years. I have had the privilege of serving as assistant principal, principal and associate superintendent. In each role, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible dedication of our staff, the potential of our students and the unwavering support of our families and community.”

Ritter also expressed his appreciation for the search process and his excitement for the future of the district.

“As I step into this role, I do so with great optimism and a clear sense of purpose,” Ritter said. “Campbell County Schools is already a strong district, and I believe we have a responsibility to continue innovating and providing our community with a world-class educational experience. As superintendent, I pledge to lead with integrity, transparency, collaboration and a relentless focus on what is best for students. I am excited to partner with our board, staff, families and community as we continue our journey as a trajectory-changing school district.”

Board chair, Peggy Schultz, said the board was impressed by Ritter’s experience,
leadership and commitment to students throughout the selection process.

“The board conducted a comprehensive search that attracted highly qualified candidates, and through that process identified Mr. Ritter as the best person to lead Campbell County Schools,” Schultz said. “Mr. Ritter’s proven leadership, deep knowledge of our district, and commitment to student success make him the right person to lead Campbell County Schools into the future.”

Additional opportunities for staff, families and community members to meet and engage with Ritter will be announced by the district in the coming months.

Ritter will officially assume the role of superintendent on July 1.
